Hip Hop Vinyasa
Like it energetic? Great, so do we 😉 We start off with a little RnB to ease you in, and then as you start to heat up, we crank up the booty shakin’ bass bumpin' beats! We join a series of postures to create sequences of flow, matching our breath to our movement & generating heat in the body, and finally winding down into gentle stretch and savasana. From Biggie to Beyonce, Kanye to Kendrick, and Drake to the A$AP crew, your yoga practice comes with swag. Class is All Levels however some fitness is recommended. This is a dynamic class with a faster pace than Slow Jamz.
Slow Jamz
Slow Jamz is for the RnB, soul, reggae, and downtempo hip hop fans, for those sweet love makin' tunes, with more down-time than vinyasa. The flows are shorter, the asanas are steadier, the pace is more chilled. With A Tribe Called Quest, J. Cole, Fat Freddys Drop, Frank Ocean, D’Angelo, and Mary J Blige, Slow Jams lets you get zen while still getting your groove on. Class is All Levels but also a great option for Beginners as it does not flow as fast as Hip Hop Vinyasa
Soul Train Yin
The perfect complimentary practice to both Slow Jamz and Vinyasa, Yin yoga involves more slow, long stretches, that reach into the deep connective tissue of the ligaments and fascia (not just the muscles) and all poses are taken on the floor with props such as cushions & blocks to support you. All our Yin classes are run by fairylight for that deep chillout factor. With acoustic RnB, old soul, jazz, modern mantra, and radiant atmospheric tunes, Soul Train Yin is a gorgeous escape to an island of yoga in a sea of music. Class is All Levels. There is no flow element to this class so absolutely zero coordination is required!
Yogasculpt
Imagine adding 10% resistance to your regular vinyasa class.... Thats what Yogasculpt does. We take our flow style of yoga and merge it with core strengthening, hand weights, and a sprinkling of cardio, to create a class that leaves you sweaty, smiling, and strong. Suitable for those with some yoga experience & a moderate degree of fitness, Yoga Sculpt focuses on merging your breath with powerful postures that can improve your deep core, arm strength, posture, and cardiovascular fitness, and gives you the tools to be stronger in your regular practice. And combined with our bangin' beats, its also lots of fun! Some experience with yoga & a degree of fitness is recommended
Foundational Flowz
Don't know your Warrior 1 from your Warrior 2? Are you upward during your downward dog? Let us break it right down for you! Join the Vital Beat teaching team, as we deconstruct key poses, key flows, & correct alignment, to help you feel confident and safe on the mat. You will be given the tips and tools to develop a safe, sustainable, rewarding yoga practice. With a different focus each week, you'll learn about breath management (pranayama), asana (poses), bandhas (energy locks), core awareness, and as the weeks progress - learn to develop & advance your practice. You can move into regular classes at any time, and return to Foundational Flowz if you need a little more guidance, or a refresher after a break! Suitable for absolute newbies or existing students wanting to take it back to basics.
The Zen Zone
Introducing The Zen Zone, Your weekly dose of bliss every Sunday evening. Join a variety of guest teachers who will take you through different techniques for relaxation and meditation. You do not have to have a regular (or any!) meditation practice to reap the benefits of mindfulness, breath, and The Zen Zone. Our teachers will explore different themes and styles of relaxation and meditation, suitable if you have never meditated before, or even if you have a regular relaxation practice but want to explore some different techniques. Attendance is by donation* - with 100% of proceeds going to the mental health organisation The Black Dog Institute. Class may run anywhere from 40minutes to 1 hour. Minimum numbers required to run - bookings essential - please cancel your booking if you are unable to attend. *Suggested donation $2 or $5 - please bring money to class and place in the collection jar on the evening. No meditation experience required. The Zen Zone runs March to November.
Pregnancy Yoga
Our Pregnancy Yoga runs as a 5 week course, with relaxation techniques & guided discussions on empowered pregnancy & birth. Our particular style at Vital Beat involves a mixture of strength-building asanas, deeply nourishing stretches, and relaxation/breathing techniques, all paired with our signature RnB tunes and fun beats. Much like other types of childbirth-preparation classes, Prenatal yoga is a multifaceted approach to exercise that encourages stretching, mental centering and focused breathing. Recommended for women 14 weeks pregnant and above. No yoga experience necessary. Book through our Events tab above
Mums n Bubs
With an emphasis on postnatal pelvic floor & abdominal strengthening and recovery, as well as juicy stretches for the back, hips, and shoulders, Mums & Bubs yoga is the perfect opportunity to nurture your own body. We make time and space to both strengthen and to relax, while bonding with your baby, in a supportive environment paired with your favourite RnB tunes! Suitable for babies up to 1 year old (or until mobile). Note: This class is not limited just to new Mama's, new Dads are also welcome to attend with their baby. No yoga experience necessary
Slow Jamz Yin/Yang
Yin/Yang Yoga is a fusion of the philosophies of Yin Yoga; slow, deep and juicy longer holds working on our yin muscles, and Yang Yoga (Vinyasa); dynamic and fun flows in sync with our breath. Together Yin Yang yoga creates an energetically balanced practice that allows you to leave class not only energised, but grounded. Paired with our smooth grooves, Slow Jams Yin Yang is the most delicious way to find peace in movement. No experience necessary
Kids Yoga
Genie takes your children through a 10 week term of classes that teach breath awareness, mindfulness, age-appropriate meditation, and yoga asanas, through the concept of yoga-play. Classes run every Friday of the school term from 4.00pm to 5.00pm, choose from a 10 week pack of classes, or 5 week block. Classes are often themed (animals, superheroes, fairytales etc) with a different focus each week, and children learn not only to quiet the mind through the moving meditation that is yoga, but Kids Yoga also gives children the empowering tools to develop body awareness, strength, and flexibility, and get support with mood self-regulation and sleep. And in our signature style, our Kids Yoga classes at Vital Beat are teamed with fun, age-appropriate music! Suitable for primary-aged children (5-11)
Creche
Creche services run at Midland on Tuesday & Wednesday mornings, and our Edgewater creche runs Monday & Wednesday mornings! Midland Tuesday’s 9.30am to 10.30am. Class is Slow Jamz Midland Wednesday’s 9.30am to 10.30am. Class is Hip Hop Vinyasa Edgewater Mondays’s 9.30am Class is Slow Jamz Edgewater Wednesday’s 9.30am Class is Slow Jamz We’ve always been family-friendly, with Pregnancy Yoga, Mums n Bubs, and Kids Yoga classes, and now our crèche is a safe place to leave your child whilst you get to relax and enjoy some yoga! Georgia, our crèche carer, will supervise and entertain your child within a fun, structured, play environment. Georgia has a current Working with Children Check and Bronze Medallion (CPR) as well as many varied experiences caring for and working with children. Space is strictly limited and online reservations are crucial, please book via the Punchpass app, when you book your yoga class. Exchange is $3 per child*, payable in cash on the day. Minimum age is 6 months. Primary aged children are welcome in school holidays. *Maximum of two siblings per family please.
